People Places Pines
With a max word count of 100, my cursor blinked mockingly at me. I already knew I wanted to attend Dartmouth, and I knew why—I wanted the small tight-knit community, the beautiful campus, and most importantly, the vibe that campus radiated to me.

Spring Break on campus with good friends and lots of sleep!

This Spring Break, I decided to stay on campus with friends. Come check my experience!

I am officially halfway done with my Dartmouth experience! In this post, I reflect on the original reasons I chose to come to Dartmouth, and whether or not my experience has lived up to my expectations.

What is the Student Wellness Center? Pet Therapy, Massage Chairs, and more! Read about my newfound favorite location on campus.

As the end of Winter looms and Spring is raring to dawn, why not take a stroll down memory lane, and look at Dartmouth Winters past?

Finding a career is one of the hardest (and often most foreign) part of the college experience; here is how Dartmouth makes life easier!

This has been a wild, yet fantastic term and here's why.

Why Dartmouth chose me, and why I, in turn, chose Dartmouth — and maybe you should too.

As one chapter ends, another begins. I'm finished with my first winter term and can't wait for my study-abroad term in Toulouse, France next year.

Ask a Student
For those who are away/have been away from campus: what do you miss most about Hanover and Dartmouth?

As a first-year student currently on campus for the winter, I've only technically been away from Dartmouth/Hanover one time—during my first winterim (Dartmouth's version of winter break).

Have you received funding from Dartmouth for research, a project, or a trip? If so, how did you find that funding and what did it enable you to do?

When giving admissions tours, there are two things at Dartmouth that I say are underrated. Number one is the Hood Museum for art, a world-class art museum open to students. The second is the research opportunities for students.

What are the basics of transportation on campus?

Everything from the Dartmouth Coach transporting students on and off campus (24/7), to the conveniently located Zipcars on campus, Dartmouth does a phenomenal job at accommodating all kinds of travel, here's the rundown:

I love reading People, Places, Pines, but how realistic are these student experiences? How authentic are each blog post?

I love this question, and I was definitely wondering the same thing when I was a prospective student!

What's something you wish you knew about Dartmouth before attending?

Coming to Dartmouth I did not realize how prominent Greek life is on campus.

What does non-STEM research actually look like at Dartmouth?

Great question. Here at Dartmouth, we use the word "research" all the time.

For international students: What resources have proved most helpful for you as a Dartmouth student?

Great question! First, I want to highlight that being an international student doesn't significantly impact your daily life at Dartmouth.

Can you be a part of the Dartmouth community without joining Greek life?

Approximately 60% of Dartmouth's students are involved in Greek life, which includes three gender-inclusive chapters, ten sororities, and fourteen fraternities.

What are housing communities at Dartmouth? What's so special about residential life?

Housing at Dartmouth is unique—here are the ends and outs from a first-year student's perspective!

Hi everyone! I'm Kabir, an international member of the class of '26, from New Delhi, India. I'm thinking of majoring in Psychology and Film & Media Studies. Outside the classroom, I enjoy watching movies, going on hikes, hanging out with my friends, and going on runs (if you see me on the streets of Hanover, say hi!) In the short while I've been here, I've come to love Dartmouth, so if you're interested in what I have to say, stick around! This should (hopefully) be fun :)

About
Hey everyone! I'm Will, a '22 from a small island on the coast of New Hampshire. I'm an avid reader and writer, and when I'm not buried in a book at Sanborn Library you can usually find me hanging out and laughing with friends somewhere around campus. I also love playing guitar, jamming with friends, and discovering new music. Dartmouth has been my favorite place in the world for the last three years and I hope this blog reveals even just a fraction of what makes it so incredible!

About
I'm Michael Harrison '24 and I'm thrilled to be starting my college career at Dartmouth! Coming from my suburban hometown on Long Island, it's great to explore a place that is so geographically (and culturally) different. This year will be unlike any other, but I've already connected with wonderful classmates and faculty through FYSEP and New Student Orientation. I'm currently undecided on a course of study, but I'll be taking writing, mathematics, and economics courses this fall!

Through Dartmouth, I've been able to study premodern religion in Edinburgh, Scotland; advocate for sexual violence prevention; and connect with other first-generation and low-income students just like myself. Talk to me about activism, music production, cats, dance, or anything else!

The Green, beautifully covered in snow
About
I am an arts -lover and passionate debater still navigating my way through Dartmouth. I have also been, slowly but surely, adjusting to Hanover’s weather from Saudi’s constant heat (and learning the importance of layers and insulation). I draw editorial cartoons for The Dartmouth, our college newspaper, and am interested in everything and anything related to foreign affairs! This time of the year, you will likely find me gazing at the snow outside a window in Baker-Berry Library.

About
Welcome to the transition diary from a big, cold Brazilian city to a small, very cold American town! I fell in love with Dartmouth soon as I got to know the College, and the last three years have expanded my love, as there is a lot to enjoy here in the woods: majors and minors, extracurriculars and clubs, many new open doors to a curious mind like mine! Hope you all like the content!

Henlo fren'! I’m Andra(’22), one of the new bloggers around. I’m from Bucharest, Romania, and my home-for-the-year is within the Thought Project LLC. Feel free to ask me about that or about what it’s like being an international from an under-represented country on campus. I’m an undeclared major, like so many other freshmen at Dartmouth, and have a bunch of passions I don’t have enough space to write about here, but which I’ll tackle little by little on my blog. Just keep reading!
