FallOn Campus
Favorite Class: Religion 001: What MattersIn this class we pondered essential questions centered around human existence. To tackle "What Matters" we took a quest throughout time exploring different events throughout our collective history that have de-centered us in space and time and made us question how we derive meaning and purpose in our lives.

Favorite Class: Geography 21.01: Global Health and SocietyThis class was led by Lisa Adams, MD, and Dr. John Butterly, MD, who are both AMAZING. This class discussed several health issues such as diseases, malnourishment, and improper sanitation that still plagues the world today and various solutions that can be undertaken to increase the overall health and wellbeing of the world's population.

Favorite Class: ECON 001: The Price SystemA hallmark of the Dartmouth education, ECON 1 "The Price System" is offered during every term at Dartmouth except the summer. Whether or not students want to major in economics, many decide to make the first plunge into the world of supply and demand through this introductory course. ECON 1 was a memorable part of my Freshman Spring as I became engrossed into the economics department through the teachings of Professor Diego Ramos-Toro. This class helped me and other students alike gain an understanding of economic policy and concepts that I continue to be useful today. ECON 1 is a profoundly helpful course that would be beneficial to all students regardless of their academic interests.

Favorite Class: ECON 24: Development EconomicsDevelopment Economics is a course that focuses on using statistical methodologies to understand a fundamental question what makes some countries rich and others poor? And what can we do about it?

Favorite Class: INTS 15: Violence and SecurityViolence and Security is a class offered through the International Studies Department that seeks to understand the underlying causes of human conflict. To answer this question, the class takes on a multidisciplinary approach and draws from the fields of biology, anthropology, economics, and political science. I loved the way in which the class sought to “illuminate the news” through our discussions and also created a vivid space for us to actively question human behavior and the implications of governmental policy towards security.

Favorite Class: GOV 5: Introduction International PoliticsGovernment 5 is one of Dartmouth’s most popular courses. In it, students get a taste for subjects in the international realm by thinking critically about the multiple facets of international politics including questions of conflict and security, global economics and trade, climate change, as well as allegiances and cooperation. I loved the way in which Professor Daryl Press was able to expertly weave current events into the class in order to make students gain a deeper understanding of the topics at hand.
An Unusual Arrival
After having the most amazing fall term at Dartmouth, I was extremely excited to get back on campus for winter. As I got out of the Dartmouth Coach and first stepped on campus I was shocked at how cold it was.
Life as a D1 Athlete
Almost a quarter of all Dartmouth students participate in Division I sports. Because of this, I decided to interview my roommate (and one of my favorite people on this campus) on how life looked like as a D1 Athlete on Dartmouth's Swim Team!
Food in the Life
Food is a huge part of our everyday experiences, so I thought I would share a little bit about what it is like to eat at Dartmouth.

Breakfast
I started out my day with a stop at Collis where I ordered eggs with sides of beans, mushrooms, and ham. I had this with an “All Yellows” smoothie which had guava juice, mango, peach, pineapple, and banana. It was so good!

Lunch
For lunch I went to Foco to meet up with a friend. Here, I had a spring roll, beef with broccoli, fried rice, and sautéed cabbage.

Performing Art Groups @Dartmouth!
Performing arts groups flourish at Dartmouth with numerous dance and a cappella groups. I have often found myself attending these performances happening throughout the term.
- No. 1
Elizabeth from New York City, Rockapellas
"I tried out for a cappella because I wanted to try something new during my college experience related to music. In high school, I was really dedicated to playing the violin but wanted to branch out, so I tried my hand at singing! I also feel like I am great friends with the girls in my a capella group which I am really happy about! The community I gained through being in an a cappella group has been amazing."
- No. 2
Olivia from Berkely, Subleties
“I feel like being part of an a cappella group allows me to come into contact with campus traditions more fully as there are many fun things that each group does! The Subtleties do shake-outs before each performance to get rid of our nerves and the entire process of trying out for a cappella and getting chosen is really cool!”

Nicole from Lima, Fusion
"I love being a part of Fusion because all of the other girls in the group are extremely nice and supportive. I also love to perform and learn the choreography for our dances as it is a way I can express myself creatively on campus. My favorite thing so far has to see the support from students on campus during our performances! A lot of people come to watch the shows and it is great to be surrounded by an uplifting community here at Dartmouth."
Sneak Peek into My Life @Dartmouth
An average day from the perspective of a freshman @Dartmouth!

7:15 a.m Workout @Alumni Gym!
I headed down to the gym at 7:15 to get a workout in before my day. The gym is about 5 minutes walking distance from me so it is always really accessible whenever I feel like I need to get my body moving. While I don’t usually head off to the gym, whenever I do it always sets the tone for the day. There, you are bound to bump into other people as they also get into their workout.

8:30 a.m Breakfast @Collis!
After my workout, I walked over to Collis (the best place to get breakfast in my opinion) for some eggs made to taste. Today, I ordered two fried eggs with everything as a topping, including spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, ham, bacon, and cheese. To go with it, I also ordered myself a Big Green smoothie made of kale, banana, and almond milk. Breakfast was so good!

10:00 a.m Office Hours and Class @Kemeny Hall
After going back to my dorm and getting ready for my day, I headed down to Kemeny Hall for my math class office hours. Kemeny is the building where most of the math classes are held at Dartmouth and is one of my favorite places to study on campus since it has lots of nicely lit study spots that are much less crowded than the library. My math class, MATH 01, offers four different times for office hours three times a week so it is easy to make the time to find a time that fits my schedule perfectly. I also feel really supported since it is a great way to go over topics and answer questions. At Dartmouth, I’ve found that the professors are all really nice and will try their best to help you succeed. Often all you have to do is reach out for help!
Once I was done with my office hours, I headed outside to study and enjoy the gorgeous day! I didn’t want to head out too far since my math class would begin in about an hour.
Housing Community Adventures: Riverview Farm!
This Saturday I went to a Riverview Farm trip organized by the South House and North Park Housing Communities. Housing communities can be amazing ways to meet new people, create new memories, or just find fun things to do at Dartmouth!
Living with Roommates!
It feels like ages ago that I got my housing survey from Dartmouth.
A Fantastic First Day of Fall Term!
It's true what they say: college can be a whirlwind, and nothing exemplifies this better than my first day of Fall term.

Wake up time! I woke up early and got ready to go on a run with my roommate. What better way to start off the day than with a run around Occom Pond? Dartmouth’s campus is breathtaking and it is incredible to have the opportunity to interact so much with nature through outdoor activities. It was nice to see campus come to life as everyone headed to class or got breakfast after having been with only 25’s (Freshmen) during orientation.

10:00 a.m
After showering and getting ready for the day, I headed over to grab breakfast at the Class of 1953 Commons (referred to as FoCo) with my roommates. FoCo is often the go-to place for meals as it has an all you can eat buffet style food court with plenty of options. Here, you are bound to bump into tons of friendly faces, and it is not a lone occurrence to have your food go cold after stopping to chat with friends one too many times.

Class! Finally, time for my first ever Dartmouth class (MATH 1), so I headed over to the Mathematics Department at Kemeny Hall. I always enjoy walking to my classes as it allows me to get in the right frame of mind as I listen to music and take in the beauty of Dartmouth’s campus.
A (Pau)werful start!
Hi! My name is Paulina and I am a 25' from Nicaragua! I am so excited to finally be on campus where I get to experience first hand everything I could previously only imagine.
