Senior Spring! What does that mean?
Here it is, my last term at Dartmouth.
This has been a crazy four years, with a pandemic, academic changes, rushing a frat, joining a new religious group on campus, and so much more. I have had so many great memories here so far, and I am excited for this last term as a Dartmouth student. So what does this term have in store for me? Well, for starters, I am finishing up my thesis. My creative writing thesis has been a chaotic time, with writer's block coming up every now and then. But regardless, it has been a good learning experience, pushing myself to become a better writer and also to be a better scheduler of my time. It's not something that I can put off for the last week of the term; I have to consistently be working on it so it can be good!
I am also taking a physics course, something I was not expecting coming to Dartmouth. However, Dartmouth through its liberal arts focus pushes students to learn various subjects in different departments. I'm getting myself out of my comfort zone by taking this class, though it is nice to know however that it is a class on the history of physics, so my history major is coming in clutch.
Finally, I am taking my last history course as an undergrad. The class is looking at American women in the 20th century, and we are currently looking at women in the Second World War. I think this course really shows me why I am a history major. I'm learning more about how sexism and racism intersected in the war efforts, and how many women attempted to unionize to gain better employment and keep their jobs. These are stories not discussed in classes in high school, and so I am glad I am learning more about them now.
Even though it is my last term, and I have a job lined up, I am still a student! And I'm excited to continue learning as the weather warms up!
