BEMA Lights!

As the weather has not relented in its coldness or snow, I found a nice reprieve from the white snow and saw the beautiful BEMA lights this weekend!

Starting two years ago during the height of the pandemic, BEMA(Big Empty Meeting Area) changed into a massive light show, where students could walk around and experience. I hadn't gone that year or last year, so for my final winter term, I made the trek over to BEMA lights! I went with a couple of friends, two of which were also '23s, so it was a nice senior event for us.

The scene was beautiful. In the night, strobes of light flowed from various sources, whether glowing hanging seats or a cool techno illumination where a green me, a blue me, and a red me all showed up on the screen! There were many cool places to take pictures, including hanging frames lit up with Christmas lights. One of my friends (he actually works in the admissions department with me!) brought his camera along, and he had many opportunities to get some good shots, some of which will probably end up in my termly wrap-up post on Instagram.

I think it also gave me the opportunity to reflect on the past couple of years.

Like I said earlier, BEMA lights were something that started during COVID when everyone had to be masked and there was not a lot of social interaction. This event was one of the few things we could do on campus. It was a little bit of a flashback going to BEMA lights, and it made me think of my time at Dartmouth. Dartmouth is a special place, and things like BEMA lights are some of the things that make it a special place.
