Forced Commitments
What you can do when a college or university wants you to commit to enroll with them before you hear from Dartmouth.
Some colleges that do not subscribe to the Regular Decision applicant Common Reply Date of May 1 may attempt to force a commitment from you prior to the time when you will receive notification of your admission from Dartmouth. If you find yourself in this situation, you may—through your school counselor—petition for an informal advance appraisal from the Dartmouth Admissions Office.
Secondary school counselors must provide a copy of the offer that you've received including the name of the college, the date of the required response, and the amount of financial aid offered.
