Scores from the ACT or SAT are required with your admissions application.

Dartmouth College is test optional for the Class of 2025.

The ACT is a college admissions test which includes questions addressing four broad areas of knowledge: English, mathematics, reading, and science.

If you submit scores from both the SAT and ACT, we will look at your highest equivalent score. For the ACT, we take your highest single composite score (we do not superscore the ACT).

It's Not All About the Numbers

Testing is required, but it isn't the ultimate factor in evaluating an application. We look at every applicant in the context of available opportunities and efforts. Testing, in conjunction with your secondary school report and recommendations, helps us better understand your academic preparation.
