Week 8 was Great!
Every week at Dartmouth looks different, and I've learned to embrace the controlled chaos of college life. Here's a quick glance into my Week 8 of Fall term!

Monday
After my classes were done for the day, I met up with my friend Will and members of the Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) to travel to Riverview Farm. There, we chatted with Upper Valley farmers and helped glean the raspberry crop. Gleaning is the process of collecting leftover crops from farmer’s fields after they have been commercially harvested. This gleaning was done in collaboration with Willing Hands, a non-profit organization that recovers fresh food for neighbors in need. After returning to campus, I attended my weekly Dartmouth Democrats meeting.

Tuesday
Tuesday was Halloween! To celebrate, the DOC organized vans to take students to the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge for dinner and dancing. We enjoyed dinner before walking through the ~spooky~ haunted house! Some students returned to Hanover on Tuesday night, but others (including me!) opted to spend the night at one of the lodge’s cabins.

Wednesday
I woke up bright and early on Wednesday morning to make it back to campus in a DOC van before my first class. In the afternoon, I met with the Dartmouth Democrats and Raymond Buckley, the chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, for a quick chat. I spent Wednesday evening studying with my friends Samay and Bea in the Stacks (an area in Berry library).

Thursday
At 5:00 PM, I met up with my fellow Dartmouth Political Union (DPU) members to listen to a moderated conversation with Chris Christie. He came to campus as a part of the ongoing Path to the Presidency series, co-sponsored by The Rockefeller Center and DPU. Next, I headed to Leverone Field House to register for skiing lessons. I’ve never skied before, so I’m excited to give it a try! After sign-ups, I hurried to Robinson Hall to catch the DOC van for my Cabin Cabin and Jamming overnight. My fellow trip members and I spent the night making music, eating delicious snacks, and enjoying each other’s company around the woodstove at Hinman Cabin.

Friday
I woke up before sunrise (again!) to get a ride back to Hanover for my Latin class. Friday night, I made my way to Thompson Arena to watch the men’s hockey team take on Quinnipiac. As a writer for the sports section of our campus newspaper, The Dartmouth, I got to interview a player and Coach Reid Cashman after the Big Green’s shootout win. Then, I walked to Memorial Field to watch the second half of the football game against Princeton. Dartmouth won, and I had a great time!

Saturday
I attended the Dartmouth hockey game against Princeton, and participated in the annual tennis ball toss! After the game, my fellow The Dartmouth writer Ava and I interviewed Coach Cashman and a player.

Sunday
Sunday, I had my weekly Story Assignment Meeting for The Dartmouth, where we check-in and pick our stories for the next week. Afterwards, I attended my weekly floor meeting. Next, I went to Collis (our student center) to watch NFL with some of my friends. I wrapped up my week by attending the DOC formal and getting dinner at FoCo (our dining hall) with my friends.
