A look at the back side of Baker Berry library!

As a new term starts, so comes with it the promise for newer, better, exciting things — and even the prospect of finding new pieces of yourself. I've started taking those opportunities that Dartmouth gives me and experiencing them to the fullest. At the start of every term (since the fall), I've enjoyed listing out five things I want to do this term — for myself.

Today, I thought I'd share my spring term goals with all of you.

1. Understanding and potentially experiencing Greek Life

As a freshman who's gotten a bit of a look into Greek Life because I have friends who are affiliated with various frats and sororities, I've become more interested and intrigued by the prospect of becoming affiliated myself. I'm excited by the community feelings that being part of Greek houses give you — some of my upperclassmen friends have found their best friends through this avenue. That could be me, and this term is the start of that!

2. Start swimming in the river (again!)

I used to swim in the river during the fall term with my friends, but once November hit, my dreams of going for a quick dip were quickly dashed. As the gorgeous New England spring rolls in, it's become my goal in life to go swimming with the new group of friends I've been able to make over the last two terms — enjoying, laughing, and praying that I don't drown!

3. Take advantage of the gym!

I'm a pretty active person and like going on walks and runs across the campus — especially in the afternoon, when the weather is nicer! But I live right next to the gym that has fantastic facilities and such a warm and comforting vibe. As someone who's been to many gyms and understand the scary atmosphere they have, I promise that Dartmouth's gym has one of the most accepting, chill environments so that's a definite plus.

4. Become more involved with my house community

In one of my previous posts, I talked about the housing system at Dartmouth and I now understand what an absolutely useful tool it is to network and to becoming more connected with the Dartmouth community. I wanted to get more involved with Dartmouth's student community and I feel like West House (my house) is the best place to start.

5. Explore New Hampshire (and Vermont!)

Dartmouth's most unique plus point is that it is located in the gorgeous woods. I feel like I've been an avid explorer of Hanover and its neighboring towns, but I haven't seen the rest of NH (or Vermont, which is the next state over!) I want to use this term to go and explore NH in all its glory with nothing but my friends, a Zipcar, my water bottle, and some SPF.

These are my five to-dos this term! See if any of them excite you when you're a freshman here next term :)
