Photo Journal: Summer 2023
Photos, photos, photos! One thing I love doing is taking pictures—here is a glimpse into my camera roll from this summer.

Birthday in Boston
I left campus and celebrated my 19th birthday in Boston with my beautiful mom! We went to Saltie Girl—a seafood restaurant—and had such a wonderful dinner. Afterward, we walked to Matcha Cafe Maiko and had some delicious matcha floats (soft serve matcha + matcha tea).

Visiting Albuquerque
I decided to visit my boyfriend this summer, who lives on the outskirts of Albuquerque in a village called Corrales. We drove up to the highest point of the Sandia Mountains (called the Sandia Crest) and hiked around the nearby area. My brother also happened to be in Albuquerque for a summer program when I visited, so I also enjoyed watching his presentation on the final day of his program.

Little Tokyo in LA
I was in Los Angeles for a few days, so I met up with Daniel '26, one of my best friends from Dartmouth! We went to eat sushi in Little Tokyo, walked around the district, visited a Japanese grocery store, and then grabbed some matcha desserts. Daniel got the matcha soft serve, and I got a matcha smoothie; however, we started getting headaches and felt a bit shaky—it was safe to conclude that we were overcaffeinated from the very concentrated matcha, so we called it a day.

I Love Cats
This summer, I discovered that I am a cat enthusiast. I honestly never considered myself a cat person, but I've found so much love for cats—particularly fat cats. This photo of my boyfriend's cat Moby Dickinson brings me so much joy because it's such a gorgeous longhaired ragdoll that enjoys the company of others. This photo reminds me of how excited I am for Barn Babies, an event hosted by the Collis Programming Board where the Programming Board brings in cute baby animals for students to pet and hang out with!

Self Care!
During the spring term of my first year, I felt high anxiety levels, particularly in social settings. With that being said, one of my goals this summer was to prioritize working on myself and find remedies that would help ease the anxiety I experienced toward the end of my first year. Thus, I found a lot of tranquility in doing things by myself, whether coloring, listening to Taylor Swift, or going to Starbucks. I am also reading a self-help book called "Living Untethered," which brought me so much peace as I got to understand myself on a deeper level.

Mother-Daughter Time
My mom is definitely my favorite person on this planet, and I am so grateful I got to spend this summer with her. From trying different restaurants in El Paso to going to the same acai shop every week, I find myself laughing and smiling the most when I am with my mother. I'm quite sad as I write this blog post since I'm leaving home to go back to Hanover soon, but knowing she's always a phone call away brightens my mood a little more and makes me less homesick.
