Winter Term Resolutions
Your first term of college can be a little bit…hectic. There's just so much happening and changing all around you that it may be hard to make time for all the new experiences. It's easy to get caught up in that overwhelming fear of missing out and lose sight of what it is that you actually want. At least that's what we realized when we finally had time to stop and reflect on our fall experience after the end of finals with a couple of friends. We decided to be more intentional with how we spend our time in our next term at Dartmouth and beyond. Here are a few of our resolutions for the winter term about how we want to spend our free time on campus!

Explore more in the Book Arts Workshop
At the end of the last term, we decided to visit the Book Arts Workshop during its open hours while looking to destress from studying right before the finals. It was one of the best decisions made in the fall term. By the end of the two hours we spent there, amidst the smell of ink and the wonderful quiet of the workshop, we had not only learned how to make bookmarks but felt much more at peace. We can't wait to spend more time in the workshop learning how to letterpress posters, cards or make carousal books, notebooks, slipcases, and more!

Make the most of the Hop
There's always so much going on at the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth: student workshops, live music, student performances, movies, staged readings... Not only is there such a wide range of activities, but they are also quite accessible. The tickets cost no more than 10 dollars for Dartmouth students. We realized that we were not as engaged in the cultural life at Dartmouth as we would like the last term. That's why we look forward to exploring more of the arts at Dartmouth. We already got tickets for The Force of Things, performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble, which is an interdisciplinary performance about ecological collapse and climate change.

Learn how to enjoy winter
Hanovers may seem scary at first sight. But there are ways to make the most of it, like learning how to ski or skate. Snowsports at Dartmouth offers ski and snowboard classes every winter for beginner and intermediate learners. If you are on financial aid, you can request a snowsports discount, and the costs of lessons, equipment, transportation, and the skiway pass will be covered, provided that you attend 5 of a total of 6 classes
