Dartmouth Georgia Holiday Party
This past week, I had the pleasure of attending the Dartmouth Club of Georgia's annual Holiday Party in Atlanta! While all holiday parties are fun and festy, I thought this one was particularly meaningful.
I first got connected to the Dartmouth Club of Georgia because the former club president lives two doors down from me (as does another Dartmouth alumnus just 10 houses down)! He spearheaded the initiative to bring the club back to life after the pandemic put the club on pause.
At the party itself, I saw a few familiar faces and also met a few more. A classmate from my Chemistry 11 class was there, and we reminisced about the periodic table and holiday plans. I also met a fellow Caroline who graduated this year and was doing research for a local university. When I told her I was looking for research work after graduation, she quickly gave me information about her job as well as the field in general. She couldn't have been any nicer, and it felt great to meet a new friend and someone who wanted to help me!
While there were people from all walks of life at the party, whether they were first-year students or from the class of 1950, there was a common thread of a love for Dartmouth among all attendees. Everyone was sharing stories, comparing traditions throughout the years, and wearing the signature Dartmouth green.
For me, it is nice to have an added social group in my home city whenever I am away from Dartmouth. In most major cities, there are Dartmouth alumni groups that host regular events. In New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., the groups have many members because of the concentration of Dartmouth graduates in those cities.
It is nice to know that wherever I land, I will have a group of fellow Dartmouth graduates!
