DAN 001 – Introduction to Daniel, the blogger
DAN 001 as a course doesn't exist at Dartmouth, unfortunately.
But here's a totally made up syllabus of a course about me, so you can get to know more about who I am and my hopes for my blog!
COURSE DESCRIPTION
DAN 001 is an introductory course to the study of the People, Places, and Pines blogger and his writing under Dartmouth Admissions. He touches on topics related to student life, beyond the books. This course aims to dissect the history of Daniel and some of his pursuits through three Key Ideas.
KEY IDEA 1 — Upbringing & Interests
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Daniel has a drive for adventure—notably shown in his commitment to Dartmouth! As a first generation, low income student, his exploration on Dartmouth's campus was motivated by seeking new perspectives. He's currently interested in learning instruments and sudoku.

KEY IDEA 2 — Discovery of the Blog
During his QuestBridge application process, Daniel frequently referred to the People, Places, and Pines blog to guide his search. Having attended Dartmouth Bound, he already knew some stuff about Dartmouth but wanted to have a deeper understanding of the student experience.
KEY IDEA 3 — His Hopes and Outlook
Daniel's blog aims to convey a story of Dartmouth through one of the various lenses at Dartmouth. With subtle interests in music theory, archival work, and among other pursuits, he hopes to dissect college life in a nuanced way.
GRADE BREAKDOWN
50% — Completing readings. This is a blog!
25% — Reaching out with questions
25% — Active engagement with course content
*DAN 001 is not a real class at Dartmouth College.
