After I was matched to Dartmouth via QuestBridge, I found myself curious about the community. I thought having a community of other QuestBridge scholars to talk to would be nice. Did I find said community? YES
In honor of it being one year since matching to Dartmouth through the QuestBridge National College Match, I wanted to share my experience with the college application process!
I sat down with Senior Assistant Director of Admissions Kate Featherston & President of Dartmouth's QB Org Damien Solinger Jeffers to discuss Questbridge Match Day at Dartmouth.
Here is an inside look on the culture of Dartmouth through the perspective of a low-income first-year student! I talk about professors, financial aid, and offer some pieces of advice!
QuestBridge is a non-profit organization that connects high-achieving students with low-income backgrounds to fantastic institutions of higher education.
If you meet the prerequisites, Questbridge is an amazing opportunity that you should take advantage of. I know I did and, to this day, I believe it was the best decision I made as a high school student.
While I was doing everything by myself for the first time with little guidance, it felt like everyone else had a handbook that told them who to meet, where to be, and what to do.
Each week in the month of April, student bloggers will be bringing to you "First-Gen Friday" — a series of interviews featuring Dartmouth students who are the first in their families to have a traditional four-year college experience.
Even if I won't see my fellows NADs (our powerful Indigenous community), Questies (Questbridge ʻ23s represent!), and First-Generation Low-Income (FGLI) folks for a little while, you should all know that you make Dartmouth a wonderful place to be.
