Mucho gusto! Let's get to the fun stuff first. I love journaling, dancing in the gym, and being outside in some sunshine. I am from Tucson, Arizona and a '28. I am a proud first generation and low-income student who comes from a loving Mexican and Native American family. An early riser and bubbly personality are some ways to describe me. Good morning everyone! Or maybe even good afternoon or goodnight. This morning we are starting our day bright and early at the Baker-Berry Library—yup the library has two different sides. Baker is the area that contains Reiss Hall and is the main entrance with the iconic heavy doors. Walking through that entrance you cross into Berry Library as you walk by the First Floor of Berry. Don't worry if you are still a little sleepy and need a coffee or sweet treat to help pick you up, because Novack's got you!
Novack always serves good energy and good music along with all the other pastries and snacks that they offer. Shoutout to all the amazing Novack workers that contribute to its great vibe! You can use your meal swipe or your Dartmouth Dining Dollars to cover the costs.
After a Novack stop,you can head over to the amazing study rooms. There are four study rooms on the ground floor that have both one chalkboard and one white board in each of them. With midterms starting next week for some classes, you can definitely say that the study rooms are much appreciated. You can also reserve a study space to ensure that no one else is in there when you plan to study. But how do you do that?
Look up Spaces under the Dartmouth Libraries website.
Select the room you wish to reserve at the designated time.
Go study!
Yup! It really is that easy. Something you may have noticed while scrolling through the Spaces website is that different areas of the library have different requested noise levels. This can be quite helpful if you are someone that can only work in quiet spaces when reading papers, or needs some background noise when doing math homework, whatever environment you need you can find it in Baker Berry!
So let's say you have been studying quite a bit but you are not a coffee type of person. How about boba? Café @ Baker is your spot! I tried it for the first time last week and can certify that it does not disappoint! Gummy Bears, Hi-Chew, and Hello Panda can all be found there!
Wait, where are these places again? Novack is on the ground floor of Berry and Café @ Baker is on the first floor of Baker. These are the two spaces where you can grab a snack and take a break without actually having to leave the library. I think both are great but I invite y'all to come and try them for yourself and let me know what you think!
