Back on Campus for the Winter
It's hard to believe that this will be my last winter term at Dartmouth! I returned to campus yesterday, and the cold never fails to surprise me. There is also tons of snow on the ground! In this post, I will talk about my favorite things about being on campus during the winter season!
One of my favorite parts of winter term at Dartmouth is embracing the cold with outdoor activities. Whether it's taking a bus to go skiing at the Dartmouth Skiway, taking a snowy walk through Pine Park, or even just building a snowman on the Green, there's always something to do. By staying active during the winter, trying new activities, and making excuses to go outside, there are tons of fun ways to take advantage of this unique season here at Dartmouth.
Another winter highlight is the cozy atmosphere on campus. There's nothing quite like stepping into Baker-Berry Library after a frosty walk, settling into a nook in the East Reading Room, and sipping on a coffee from the Novack Cafe downstairs! Winter also is when I've gotten to know my friends more in the past, as students tend to spend a lot more time indoors with one another. These small moments with friends are what make Dartmouth feel like home during the coldest months!
Winter Carnival is, of course, a standout experience. This Dartmouth tradition is a celebration of all things winter, and it brings the entire campus together. Winter Carnival, and fun activities like the Polar Bear swim, allows students to embrace the season and create unforgettable memories. My friends and I always look forward to the themed events at the carnival every year!
Winter is really a great time to be on campus. The snow-covered trees make campus look like something out of a storybook, and there's a peacefulness to walking back from late-night study sessions while the snow falls! It's a chance to slow down and appreciate the beauty around campus, even in the midst of a busy schedule.
As I reflect on my final winter at Dartmouth, I realize how much these experiences have shaped my time here. The snow, the traditions, and the community have ensured that winter in Hanover is always a great time. I can't wait to share more updates about my final winter term!
