Senior spring looks different for almost everyone. Many of us are engineering majors, so my friends and I have similar workloads and classes. As nostalgia runs deep within all of us during this last term, we make sure to carve out time to spend with each other!
ENGS 88: Senior Honors Thesis
An honors thesis is a project you can do that involves extensive research and effort. It is a culmination of your research aspirations at Dartmouth and is overseen by a faculty advisor in your department! In Engineering, ENGS 88 is the honors thesis class, which can be preceded by ENGS 87 : Undergraduate Investigations. My senior thesis is on 3D printing thermoelectric materials, at the Yan Li Lab!

ENGS 172.2: Techno-Economic Modelling in a Developing Country Context
As an energy engineering major, I am incredibly excited to be taking this class. It teaches us how to build a techno-economic model to evaluate the implementation of technology solutions in a developing country. When pioneering any business, there are so many factors to consider other than the technology itself, and this teaches engineers how to think about this! My team's project focuses on an evaluation of rooftop solar strategies, specifially analysing how the feasibilty of grid-tie, off-grid, and hyrbid change from one developing country to another.
MATH 23: Differential Equations
Well, you may be wondering why I am taking this class during my senior spring. I admit it, I definitely should have taken this class to give me the math background for engineering! Dartmouth is unpredictable, and I am now taking differential equations my senior year. It has been incredibly helpful in visualizing and understanding the classes I have taken in the past, and is challenging me to reconsider the way I think about systems in the real world.
Outside of classes, I prioritize physical and mental wellness, my on-campus jobs, and making sure to spend as much time as I can with my friends!
