Expected Family Contribution

Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is a measure of your family’s ability to contribute to your college costs. The federal EFC is calculated using an equation determined by the Department of Education from the information you supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Dartmouth calculates an institutional EFC from all application materials provided.
