Wellness Activity Options
In the busy ten-week terms at Dartmouth, in addition to lots of studying, it is great to exercise, participate in groups, and have hobbies, but I also highly recommend some activities to further support your wellness. While there are a number of other wellness options on campus, I am focusing on the ones I am engaged in.

Student Wellness Center Offerings
I have been going to Yoga Nidra in the late afternoon on Thursdays, and I am finding that it is a wonderful time to intentionally relax. There are other yoga options offered such as Hatha. On Parent's Weekend, the Student Wellness Center offered a four-hour mindfulness retreat at the lodge on Occom Pond that I attended, and I found it to be a great mental reset, especially thanks to the length of time. At times, an hour or less is sufficient but it is not a bad idea to use part of a weekend for wellness at times. There is no fee for these events, and there is frequently free snacks associated with them!

Collis Center Events
At the end of Orientation Week, Collis Center hosts a large welcome event, and I participated in succulent plant pot decorating, corkboard painting with stencils, and bag decorating. During midterm season I made a pillow and watched Encanto with Latin American snacks. All of these events are free and events like them are offered nearly every week.

House Communities
As an LLC member, I live in North Park but I am part of South House. In addition to the term dinner, I have been enjoying Thera Thursdays at The Onion (look up this social space!). Things such as candy apples, video games, and mini zen gardens are offered weekly. Housing communities also offer trips to sports games or places like Six Flags, and those options can certainly be great for wellness. Expenses for trips are covered by the housing community budget.
