Places I Miss at Dartmouth
As much as I love studying abroad on Dartmouth's Full Immersion in Rome Italian program, I also really miss campus! Here's a look back at some of the places I can't wait to get back to soon.
- No. 1
Shattuck Observatory
Although I’ve never been into Shattuck Observatory, I want to check it out soon during one of the monthly public observing nights. The park near the observatory is also beautiful!
- No. 2
The Stacks!
I never thought I’d miss the stacks—but I do! Although they aren’t the most beautiful place to study, they provide the perfect environment for “locking in” on assignments, something that’s been difficult for me to replicate while studying abroad in Rome for the summer.
- No. 3
Alumni Gym's Pickleball Courts
As a tennis player in high school, I never thought I’d give in to the pickleball trend. That being said, I have to admit—it’s a fun game, especially with friends. I’m incredibly grateful for Dartmouth’s pickleball courts, and the free equipment that is provided to play with!
- No. 4
The Basement of Sanborn Library
I’m going to let you in on a little secret I didn’t discover until the spring of my first year: the basement of Sanborn Library. While the main level is also beautiful (and serves tea once a day), the basement is a cozy, cute spot to curl up with a book (or a research paper), especially on a gloomy day.
- No. 5
Thompson Arena
I spent a lot of nights this winter at Thompson Arena watching hockey with my friends, and made some great memories there. Admission to Dartmouth Athletics events is free for students, and I highly recommend catching a game and rooting on the Big Green!
- No. 6
"Blobby" (Baker Library's Lobby)
Blobby used to be my favorite spot on campus, and I explained exactly why in my ode to the space officially known as Reiss Hall. I can’t wait to get back to campus, plop down in my corner chair, and catch up with all of my friends about their summers.
