My Five Favorite Study Spots at Dartmouth (Updated!)
Finding a great study spot is crucial to ensuring that you lock in and get the work done—I believe that your environment definitely determines your productivity. At Dartmouth, here are my current five favorite places to get work done (read previous rendition here)!
- The Visual Arts Centre (BVAC): The Black Family Visual Arts Centre is the arts school at Dartmouth. Majors like Studio Art and Film & Media Studies are housed here. Because BVAC is full of creative people, the entire building is full of really interesting artifacts and creations. I love sitting on the ground floor on the red couches and just getting my work done.
- The Stacks: The stacks are located inside Baker-Berry Library, but they have separate staircases. The Stacks are full of archives and thousands of books, but my favorite thing about them is that there's an unspoken code of silence when you're working there. A great place to get work done!
- 3FB (Third Floor Berry): The 3rd floor of Berry Library is a great place to be when you're really knee-deep in work. I find the silence a good way to concentrate on getting my assignments done. The only con about this one is that when it's midterm or finals season, it's really hard to find a seat here!
- Still North Cafe: I used to visit Still North, a cafe off-campus, a lot during my first fall but then stopped going almost entirely. This past summer, I started going again with my roommates, and it's a great place to work! I like the bookshop-meets-coffee shop aesthetic; when the weather's nice, they also have great outdoor seating!
- Sanborn Library: Sanborn has been one of my favorite spots since first fall—it's full of history and has really nice architecture, which makes the vibes perfect to lock in. Additionally, they sometimes have tea and cookies at 4 pm, which is always a nice break from studying.
These are my favorite study spots at Dartmouth, though the list is always changing. Let me know if you have any questions!
