Flames on a bonfire

Homecoming—a time when current students and alumni gather to relive cherished memories and exhibit large amounts of school spirit. Combine that with Halloween festivities from the day before, and you get a frighteningly good time.

As always, Homecoming kicked off with its traditional bonfire. Every year, a bonfire celebrating the newest class (in this case, the class of 2028) is built in the center of the Green. Said '28s then walked one lap around the bonfire while current students and alumni cheered them on. Luckily, it did not rain during the bonfire this year, so we saw a much better scale of the fire uninterrupted by water. I didn't know this was possible, but it seemed as if the fire was more massive in scale than last year!

The day after the bonfire was the Dartmouth vs. Harvard football game at Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field. While I did not know much about how football works, my friends convinced me to show up to the game. And show up we did! The stadium was bathed in a sea of Dartmouth green, and despite the cold, I couldn't help but get swept up amidst the high morale.

Homecoming Weekend was a display of our collective Dartmouth spirit. There's nothing quite like walking amongst friends and alumni while singing along with the alma mater; I felt like I was part of something way bigger than myself.
