It's Spring! Wait, It's Spring!?
Inspired by Rika '28's Friendterview, I decided to sit down with some of my closest friends and reflect on what this year has meant to us. From cold winter nights to hopeful spring mornings, it's been a journey of growth, challenge, and memory-making. Here's what they had to say.
Q. How do you feel?
Carys:
I cannot believe we made it this far. Time has moved by so quickly! But I'm excited it's going to get warm again this term.
Alex:
"Same… and I'm so excited for all the Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) trips!"
Joanna:
I am nervous—I'm taking a challenging linear algebra course this term."
Andrea:
"I'm super excited to spend the spring term with my friends—but frankly, it also feels bittersweet (because the year is coming to a close)."
Alex:
"Going to the river… picnics in the spring as well. I can't wait.
"What's one thing you wish you would have done differently?"
Alex:
"I wished I took advantage of the winter term more and went skiing or ice skating!"
Meredith:
"Slept more—sleeping is so important!"
Andrea:
"Not sampling more classes! I feel like there are so many fun courses in our liberal arts school. I'm definitely going to enroll in some this term, like a public speaking course with the Public Policy Department
Anonymous Friend:
"Procrastinating less—I feel like I missed so many campus events over the last two terms. I definitely want to engage more this term."
My Two Cents
After chatting with everyone, I couldn't help but nod along to pretty much everything they said. Sleeping? Procrastination? Sampling more classes?!
But in all seriousness, I'm grateful for this chaotic, beautiful ride of a freshman year—and even more grateful for the people who've made it feel like home. Here's to warm weather, fewer all-nighters (fingers crossed), and making the most of these next few months. Spring term, we're coming for you!
