Week 2's Gems
Welcome to my second post of the term! Though I have been at Baker library around the clock to stay on top of my classes, Dartmouth has provided me with many enjoyable gems to avoid stress!
- No. 1
Açai Bowls
Disregarding my worry about running out of Dining Dollars, Collis’ açai bowls are a bright start to my morning after my 9S (what a 9:05 to 9:55 class is referred to on Dartmouth’s Class Schedule/Timetable). If you want to explore variety outside of Foco’s (Dartmouth’s main dining hall) meal options, Collis Cafe also offers smoothies, protein bowls, sandwiches, snacks, and more.

Therapy Dogs!
The Student Wellness Center allowed students to relax in their space and pet two therapy dogs, a golden retriever named Poppy and (unknown breed) Rosie. One of the therapy dogs, Poppy, stops by the Student Wellness Center Living Room every Wednesday, granting students with a comforting delight in the middle of the week to persevere into the weekend.

The Tower Room
The Tower Room in Baker Library is my favorite spot. Although this post is supposed to focus on enjoyable things outside of the classroom, my favorite place to complete homework and study is the “pretty room” in Baker. It’s quiet, has a relaxing atmosphere, and I feel most focused here.

Community Lunch
The community lunch on President Beilock’s Inauguration day was another one of my gems. The turnout from students and local members of the community was admirable! Dining staff and volunteers served burgers, hotdogs, coleslaw, and more. From 11:30 to 2 pm students resorted to eating at the barbeque rather than going to the dining hall. The Harlem Gospel Choir and Dartmouth’s choir showcased exquisite performances.

Walks Around Campus
I live in the East Wheelock Housing community, a cluster of dorms that are about 10 minutes away from the main parts of campus. This means that I am required to walk a lot. Recently, I have enjoyed listening to music and walking around Dartmouth to clear my mind.
Until next time! Stay tuned for my updates on my experience at Dartmouth College.
