I'm writing this back in Maryland, where I'm at for my internship this term. But I was lucky enough to visit Dartmouth for a weekend and was reminded of all the reasons why I love it so much.
As we walked around the city, introducing ourselves and talking about our lives, I began to feel more and more comfortable with the strangers I had just met.
My name is Bryanna and I'm a '23 from Singapore (well, kinda, it's complicated).
I was the first in my family to ever study abroad in America, so I was clueless about everything.
Their choice of venue was pretty incomparable: Dartmouth's Hood Museum! We dressed up for the event that was impeccably organized with catering, live performances from student groups (such as Street Soul), and a DJ.
Despite having studied, interned, and conducted independent research abroad multiple times since coming to Dartmouth, there is one conversation I just cannot avoid with my mom each time I jet off someplace new: safety.
During my time in Edinburgh, I am able to take six weekend trips to visit different countries (seven, if you count my trip back to Hanover for Homecoming).
