Are you a fan of basketball? Pickleball? Pilates? Yoga? If you love any of these activities or enjoy playing sports, you've entered the right place! Dartmouth students are required to complete three physical education and/or wellness courses throughout their time leading up to graduation. While this requirement may seem daunting to some, there are 33 club sports and 35 Division I Varsity teams that offer a variety of extracurricular activities for students to choose from, ranging from baseball to squash to lacrosse. If you aren't interested in playing sports at an intense, competitive level, there are intramural teams where you can represent your housing community.

Personally, I have been completing my graduation PE requirement through cheerleading, which you can read about here and here

During basketball season, my cheer team and I perform a short routine at halftime.

On days when I am not at cheer practice, I walk across my dorm in the East Wheelock community and go to Alumni Gym/Zimmerman Fitness Center The Alumni Gym is open every day excluding holidays, with hours from 5AM-10PM on weekdays (Mon-Fri) and 8AM-10PM on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). This 16,000-square-foot facility is a fitness enthusiast's dream, housing over 70 pieces of cardio equipment, 40 strength machines, 3 different dumbbell areas, a full free-weight area, and open spaces for stretching and dynamic fitness. There's also something for everyone with amenities like 2 swimming pools, an intramural basketball court, a 1/13 mile indoor track, and more.

For visitors or non-Dartmouth student residents in Hanover, Day Passes can be purchased with a debit or credit card at the Main Entrance desk of Alumni Gym or at the Facilities Office. Dartmouth students, however, enjoy free entry with their student ID. Since afternoons and evenings are typically the busiest, I prefer going in the mornings right after waking up to start my day on an active note.

So whether you're looking to meet the PE requirement or just want to stay fit, Dartmouth's resources make it easy to find an activity that suits your interests and schedule. Why not explore all that's available and make the most of your time here?
