Hi! My name is Arianna, and I'm a '27 from Georgia. On campus, I am involved with the Cheerleading Team, Dartmouth Caribbean Connections, First-Gen Office, and more! I aim to double major in History and English (potentially) with a minor in Public Policy. I enjoy reading, painting, listening to music, and meeting new people. After recovering from a weekend of sickness, a week filled with love was just what I needed! At Dartmouth, a few organizations sponsor different activities and valentine's grams that you can indulge in with your friends. For instance, our Marching Band hosted "Bandygrams". In a variety of places, such as Novack (a café in the library) or Courtyard Café (otherwise known as The Hop), the band would play a song for someone that received their "Bandygram". A few dance groups and a cappella groups held shows incorporating a Valentine's Day theme. Additionally, the first-year class council held the option for people to send their friends candy grams. As a person that enjoys spreading love to my friends, this Valentine's Day, I decided to be crafty and make candy grams out of things I found at the CVS Valentine's Day aisle. I began by selecting some festive ribbons, heart-shaped candies, and gift bags. I then packed a variety of candies, including lollipops, chocolate hearts, and conversation hearts, into each bag. Furthermore, I then handwrote notes on little cards and used the ribbons to fasten them to each bag.
Apart from what I have already mentioned, I loved Valentine's Day at Dartmouth because of the pink and white themed cheer practice, heart-themed decorations in the library's café, and the Valentine's Day gala.
Dartmouth's Black Student Association held a Black Legacy Month gala that was Valentine's Day theme, which my friends and I enjoyed it! Any excuse to attend an event with a formal dress-code is always welcome. There were sparkling juice, cheese and crackers, and other snacks and refreshments to set the ambience of the gala. Some features at the gala included the photo booth, pink-colored backdrop with balloons adorning the sides, and a DJ playeing music while neon lights shone around.
The Valentine's Day Black History Month Gala was a huge success overall, inspiring, empowering, and connecting attendees to their ancestry and the love and togetherness that surrounded the occasion.
Senior spring is here and it is surreal to reflect on how much my daily routine has evolved. We have just welcomed the Class of 2030, and I am so incredibly excited for the next generation of Dartmouth students to find their home in Hanover!
