A Weekend in Hanover!
Hello everyone! This weekend I had a visitor at Dartmouth! My girlfriend was visiting from Chicago, Illinois, where she goes to school. The weather this weekend was truly a blessing, and the nice weather will continue through the beginning of this week. Over the weekend, we did many things in Hanover, so I thought I would tell you about the places we went! On Friday night we went to the local Thai restaurant, Tuk Tuk Thai cuisine. As someone who loves Thai food, I was very excited. I'm happy to report that "Tuk Tuk" is excellent, and it was like a little taste of home. We tried their Thai fried rice, Red Curry, and Pad See Ew. All were very delicious, and so was their Thai Iced Tea, one of my favorite drinks ever.
On Saturday, we went to the Hanover Poster and Records store. This store was lots of fun to walk around. There are, of course, posters and records, but there are also CDs, cassette tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, and more. They had posters and music from all different eras and genres. I was very tempted to buy a couple of cat posters… They also have a lot of fun old-timey Dartmouth posters and other artwork. Definitely a good place to buy some dorm decorations or get some personalized gifts. Their catalog is very extensive and there's something for everyone. After the poster store, we went to the Dartmouth Co-op Store, a great place to buy some Dartmouth swag. We each got a gray t-shirt since I needed something Dartmouth that wasn't a sweater, and my girlfriend needed some Dartmouth swag of her own. There were also some vendors right outside of the Hanover town hall. One vendor had sterling silver jewelry, including rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Another vendor sold artwork engraved on wood, with Disney characters and other popular cartoons.
After shopping, we went to Hanover Scoops. We got a maple creemee and a strawberry milkshake. Both were very tasty, and I look forward to trying more of their ice cream flavors.
On Saturday night, we went to Molly's Restaurant. We had the Carbonara and their "Juicy Burger;" both were delicious, and it was nice to eat out for a change since I haven't eaten out often since starting the term. There were many other things we would've done, but the weekend went by quickly. We were looking forward to watching "We Live in Time," the newest Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh movie, but that doesn't come out until next week. I'll be sure to catch it at the Nugget Theater, the town theater right next door to Hanover Scoops. There is also a bookstore I'll be sure to check out, as I'm trying to get back into reading while I'm here at Dartmouth. All in all, I had a great weekend exploring some of what Hanover has to offer, and I was very impressed. In particular, Tuk Tuk has a new customer, as I'll be dining there often to get some delicious Thai food and get a taste of home. I hope you enjoyed this adventurous weekend recap!
