Housing Communities at Dartmouth
Just like how Harry Potter has its four houses, Dartmouth has six with their own qualities: West House, East Wheelock House, South House, Allen House, School House, and North Park House.
West House: As a member of West House, I can say that we are known for our extremely tight-knit community. Although the location of the dorms near the River gets a bad reputation for its distance away from the rest of campus, I truly could not imagine living anywhere else and I have made my closest friends through my dorm in West House!
East Wheelock House: Located on the east side of campus, East Wheelock is known for its more modern style for its dorms. It is very close to the gym and athletic facilities as well as Courtyard Cafe, which makes it a great location to live!
South House: South House includes residential halls such as Wheeler Hall, Richardson Hall, and Topliff Hall and is known for its centrality on campus. In addition, "The Fayes" dorms are also part of South House, but they are currently under renovation! All of the dorms are in walking distance from many buildings including the library, eating areas, and the gym. I have a lot of friends in these dorms and I can say that they are incredible and South House is truly amazing!

Allen House: Allen House has residential halls both on Tuck Mall as well as in the Choates (behind Frat Row). Similar to South House, Allen House has some dorms that are in excellent locations (such as Gile Hall, which is a 2 minute walk from our dining hall). I also know a few people in Allen House, and I can say that their dorms are quite nice and they seem to have an amazing community!
School House: South House includes the dorms on Massachusetts Row (such as Mid Mass), as well as dorms in the Choates. The locations of these dorms, especially those on Mass Row, are simply incredible and are just a minute walk from the dining hall. The dorm rooms themselves are especially nice, and the community is truly amazing!

North Park House: Similar to East Wheelock, North Park is known for its modernized dorms and is in its own little cluster near Anonymous Hall. It is just a few minutes walk from the library and has a lot of amenities such as elevators and single-use bathrooms.
No matter what house you are put in, there is hope that you will absolutely love it!
