Dartmouth's quarter system, or the D-Plan, consists of four terms per academic year—summer, fall, winter, and spring—with each term lasting ten weeks. A typical 4-year undergraduate career consists of 15 terms, 12 of which you are "on" taking classes, either on campus or through an off-campus program, and three of which you are "off" and not taking classes. The D-Plan gives students the flexibility to choose which terms they are "on" and "off" after the spring of my first year. I was "off" my junior winter, and now I'm excited to be back!

Coming back to campus after being away for the past term felt both new and warmly familiar. When I stepped onto campus with my suitcases in late March, I was surprised by how different it looked from what I expected. The skies were a clear, bright blue, and most of the snow from the winter had already melted away. Naturally, one of the first things I did was walk across the Green to grab my first meal on campus for the term at FoCo, Dartmouth's main dining hall.

FoCo added a new breakfast option!

As I settled into my spring term dorm room, I felt a wave of emotions. Being back has made me appreciate both my time away and my return even more. I loved my off-term and wouldn't change it for the world. My experience working under Chief Justice MacDonald as a Rockefeller Center Judicial Fellow was incredibly meaningful, and I am grateful for the insights I gained during my time there. I know that I'll look back fondly on the memories of my off-term.

Coming back and reuniting with the parts of this campus I've missed so much, I am reminded of just how special it is to leave, grow, and come back to this place that feels like home. I'm excited to spring into this term with everything I've learned and make the most of being back.
