Dartmouth Debunked, Part 3: Travel & Transportation
There are a variety of ways students get from their homes to Dartmouth. Those who live in the New England area simply opt to drive from their home states, putting all their packed items in their car trunks. Some may choose to take the Amtrak, stop at White River Junction (a town in Vermont), and take an Advanced Transit bus to Hanover. If you're not one of these students and are looking to fly to Dartmouth, there are two options:
- Fly to Lebanon Municipal Airport, and take a Zipcar to Hanover: This method of flying to Hanover is uncommon. Students will want to book flight(s) from their home airport to Lebanon Municipal Airport. From there, it's a 15-minute drive to Hanover. The catch: There are no ride-share services such as Uber or Lyft. Instead, students will have to take a Zipcar to Hanover.
- Fly to Boston Logan International airport, and take the Dartmouth Coach: This is by far the most common and straightforward way to get to Dartmouth. Students will want to book flight(s) from their home airport to Boston Logan International Airport. After their arrival, they will take the Dartmouth Coach, which stops in front of Rauner Library, a place centrally located on campus. Dartmouth Coach tickets can be purchased online. Unless your ticket is "same-day round trip", your ticket can be used at any date and time and not necessarily the date and time you purchased it for. If flight(s) are delayed and students end up arriving to the airport later than planned, they can still take the next Dartmouth Coach, no questions asked. The bus itself has convenient amenities, including bathrooms at the back of the bus, WiFi, and outlets. You won't have to worry about any inconveniences during this two-and-a-half-hour journey from Boston to Hanover. I personally fly to Boston-Logan before taking the Dartmouth Coach. It's by far the easiest way to get to Dartmouth in my opinion.
