Salutations!
Hello! I'm Cal, and I'm a '27—that is, a member of the class of 2027—at Dartmouth.
"Oh, Cal as in California!" is probably what you're thinking. Even if it's not, this is just one typical response I am often met with whenever I introduce myself. I'm not from California, as my name would suggest, but rather, the state of North Carolina.
Another interesting response I occasionally get is, "Oh, like calzones!" often prompting a discussion about whether calzones are pizza, sandwiches, or neither. While I would love to give an opinion, I am allergic to most pizza, calzones, and bread. Having tried my first allergy-free pizza this year, I may not be the most qualified to give an opinion. A quick Google search, however, says that calzones do count as pizza, not sandwiches.
As of now, I am planning to study computer science, economics, philosophy, classics, and public policy. I know that's a wide range of disciplines, and to tell you the truth, I have no idea what I want to major in yet! That's why I appreciate Dartmouth's flexibility and encouragement in pursuing interdisciplinary studies. I do know that I'll hone my creative side at Dartmouth. I love drawing in my free time, and I do a ton of digital art and graphic design! One of my goals at Dartmouth is to get into photography—to learn how to use different types of cameras, photo manipulation, and photo editing. Expect to see some of my artwork and photos in my future blog posts!
