Reflecting on Winter Term
Wow, I can't believe winter term is already over! Each term always flies by, and I think that is due to the quick nature of the quarter system. As I leave for a very different spring term (which will be discussed in a different blog post), I want to look back at my eventful ten weeks.
This term, I decided to modify my major and add a minor. I decided to modify my Classical Studies major with English so that I could add more breadth to my liberal arts education. Additionally, I added a Global Health minor so that I could be better equipped for my professional career as a potential doctor or healthcare consultant. I thoroughly enjoy studying the humanities, so I believe that the combination of these three fields will keep me busy over the next two years!
This winter, I took four courses, which is one more than the typical three course term. I made this decision for a couple different reasons. First, winter term tends to be my best academic term because the cold weather often keeps me inside the warm reaches of the library! Also, I found two courses that fulfilled my major and two that fulfilled my minor, so it made sense to enroll in all four classes to get further in finishing both my major and minor.
My favorite part of this term was my friends in my classes. In all my classes, I had at least one close friend taking the class with me. This was very helpful in bouncing ideas off of each other and quizzing each other. Because of Dartmouth's small size, you more often than not recognize at least one person in your class, and this term I lucked out by being with close friends!
Although I didn't do core winter activities this term like skiing or do the Polar Bear Plunge (thankfully!), I had a fantastic term taking classes with some of my best friends!
