I spent my first week of college in the woods, and it was awesome.
Dartmouth has a pre-orientation tradition of taking hundreds of incoming freshmen into the wilderness for several days for a program we call First Year Trips.
My First-Year Trip was a wonderful experience that gave me some close friends and some great memories. I can go on and on about going electrofishing, bonding through pranks, or taking a freezing dip in the river.
I'm Abbi, and I'm super excited to start documenting my first-year experience at Dartmouth!
Trips may be long-completed, but the memories I made at Moosilauke Lodge and on the trails will stick with me for the rest of my years here.
Andie Conching is a senior neuroscience major, my tripee (a student who was on the same first year trip as you), and one of my first friends at Dartmouth.
Trips, literalmente significando “Paseos”, es una de las muchas tradiciones de Dartmouth. Consiste de un paseo de cinco días donde un grupo de estudiantes de primer año y dos líderes exploran varios lugares de New Hampshire hasta Maine.
For three weeks before classes started, I volunteered with the First Year Trips Program, or “Trips” as we call it, as a member of Hanover Croo (HCroo).
