The Hollywood sign!

I'm still in Los Angeles for my film Domestic Study Program (DSP). I'm using my blog this term to give you an insight into one of Dartmouth's many off-campus experiences that make the quarter system so worth it.

Here are four things I did this week:

  1. Went to Jimmy Kimmel Live: This was such an exciting day! The DSP got to visit the Jimmy Kimmel Live sets and see behind the scenes of how the show is produced in its iconic Hollywood Blvd studio. We ended the day in the nice green room, where all the celebrities and their entourage stay. I saw Dua Lipa, Jimmy, and Leo Woodall! It was absolutely surreal and absolutely brilliant.
  2. Went Hiking: I went hiking with a few friends on the DSP this past Friday—and we loved it so much that we decided to go again on Saturday! I hiked the Hollywood sign, and while I decided not to go all the way to the top, I'll definitely be going on this one again. Hiking is such a big part of the Dartmouth experience, and it is interesting to do it out here in Los Angeles in a completely different setting.
  3. Had a Day At The Beach: A well-earned Sunday treat! Thanks to the great weather this past weekend, my friends and I headed to Santa Monica and relaxed on the beach, ate great food around the area, and just unwinded. This has been a super stressful week with a lot of work and two midterm essays due, so it was nice to take a moment of calm. And the water was super nice, too!
  4. Visited a Music Video Set: This was honestly really cool. We drove up in the mountains to a little house with a big pool—and turns out, this is where Beyonce, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj shoot all the underwater portions of their music videos. It was insanely cool to see how portions of videos are shot underwater. And the guy who owns the place was a key specialist on James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water! So it was absolutely fantastic to hear him speak about his experiences.

These are 4 of my highlights from this week! I can't wait to let you know about the next one ahead!
