2025 Applicants: What does "test-optional" for the Class of 2025 mean?

Testing

Normally, Dartmouth College requires applicants to submit either the ACT or the SAT.   This year, for candidates seeking admission to the Class of 2025, Dartmouth College is suspending this testing requirement.  Applicants to the Class of 2025 will indicate on the Common App whether or not they would like the Dartmouth Admissions Committee to consider their ACT/SAT score.

Dartmouth welcomes any testing element a student chooses to share. The SAT Subject Tests, IB, and AP are examples of additional optional testing that some candidates choose to share when available. Not submitting scores will not prevent your candidacy from receiving a full review by the Admissions Committee.

Students whose first language is not English and who are not being instructed in English are still required to share the results of an English proficiency exam.
