Sunset on Tuck

As the year begins to wind down and the trees have shed their leaves with the anticipation of snow, I can't help but think about how beautiful the Upper Valley is, even in the winter! I haven't been on campus for winter since my freshman year, and with snow in the forecast soon I wanted to look back at some of my favorite outdoor spaces on campus with this photo essay! Hope you enjoy.

Simon in Pine Park
How could I talk about my favorite spaces outdoors at Dartmouth without talking about the one I use most often: Pine Park! Pine Park is a running and walking trail which snakes along the Connecticut River and offers miles of forest to explore.

Simon on River
Speaking of the Connecticut River, you can rent kayaks and paddle boards from the Ledyard desk right next to the river and paddle for hours. Here is a picture from sophomore summer that my friend Keyleigh took while we were paddling to a nearby waterfall!

Sunset on Main Street
The sunsets this far up north are spectacular, and you'll see your fair share of painted skies while you're at Dartmouth. This is one from just a random fall day while I was driving back to campus from visiting a farm for a class project, and I'm glad we stopped to take a look.

Sunrise at Holts Ledge
Of course with the sunsets come sunrises! This one is from a hike I did with the Dartmouth Outing Club to climb to the top of the skiway to watch the sunrise. The 4am wake up call was definitely worth it for this view.

Cabin and Dog
This photo essay would not be complete without a picture of one of Dartmouth's many dogs, so here is a photo of my professor's dog at an off-campus visit to one of Dartmouth's many cabins.
