Living in Paradise (aka the Fahey Dorms)

Walking into Fahey, I was stepping into luxury. It really made me appreciate the upgrade from the River Dorms. Modern design, central campus location, spacious rooms and hallways, walk-in closets, study rooms on every floor, Fresh Zones with Baskin-Robbins, plenty of washers and dryers, and yes—an elevator. Honestly, what more could you ask for?
Living in Fahey this past fall was an absolute dream. In my opinion, it's one of the best dorms on campus at Dartmouth. I had a two-room double, and it was such a convenient and comfortable place to live. Honestly, you could barely catch me in the library—I was either in my room or studying in the study room on my floor. It was just a few steps away, peaceful, and had warm, ambient lighting with minimal distractions. I ended up having some of my most productive study sessions there.

Sometimes, I'd even run laundry to double up on productivity—yes, I was doing laundry, but I was also getting work done at the same time. Moving my clothes to the dryer or picking them up turned out to be perfect little study breaks.
One of the best things about living in Fahey, though, is its incredibly convenient location. Situated in the center of campus, it's just a two-minute walk from the library and less than five minutes from the dining hall. I was also close to some of my best friends, who lived just across in dorms like Lorde, and not far from Frat Row, where many of the fraternities are located.
Another thing I really appreciated about living in Fahey was its sense of community. The resident coordinator, Pamela, who was in charge of planning these events, did a fantastic job organizing a variety of activities. Snacks were regularly available on the first floor Monday through Friday.

In addition, there were occasional special offerings—sometimes fresh berries, granola, and yogurt; other times, bread and soup. These small events, spread throughout the term, were a thoughtful way to help students feel cared for and part of the West House community.

And don't even get me started on the elevators. Being on the fourth floor, they made life so much easier—not just for laundry, but for getting around the building in general. Moving in and out was also a total breeze (yes, I had to say farewell to this building before winter), and I even found a cart that made transporting all my stuff super easy.
Overall, I feel so lucky to have had the chance to live in Fahey this past fall, and I'll miss it dearly. I'm hoping that fate will bring me back here in the spring—fingers crossed!
