Hike Gile with Me!
As the term continues to move on, sometimes it can get a little stressful. Luckily, Dartmouth is surrounded by absolutely serene nature, and it provides such an incredible escape from the stress of classes. Gile Mountain, about a 15 minute drive from campus, is a fantastic place to hike and see the beautiful foliage during the fall. Let me tell you all about my experience!
One of my friends had a car, so she drove us to the start of the hiking path. Even just driving through Vermont was incredible, as the foliage is already breathtaking!

Once we got there, we immediately began our trek up the mountain. This hike is relatively easy; there is definitely an incline, but nothing too bad (and it takes about 30 minutes to get up to the top). We stopped at many points along the way to take in the scenery of Vermont and New Hampshire. Words cannot describe just how beautiful it is here.

As we continued to make our way up the mountain, we noticed just how quiet and peaceful it was. Though Dartmouth is nestled in a small, rural college town, campus life is so active between classes, events, and social commitments that stepping away to a quieter setting for a bit offered some much-needed calm and recharge. Being able to escape and hike this mountain really provided relaxation that we all needed. We finally made it to the fire tower, and raced up the flight of stairs to see the view. The view was genuinely jaw-dropping (you can take a look at the cover image for this post). The foliage looked absolutely stunning, and it really just blew me away. You can actually see the top of Baker-Berry Library! After taking in the views, we headed back down the mountain and drove back to campus.

This was such an incredible experience, and I believe that hiking Gile should be on everybody's bucket list!
