“Do you miss quality home-cooked food? Do you miss the wholesome time cooking with your friends and family? Don’t worry, because we got u!!! This Sunday, come to OverCooked’s Steak Night! …”

So yes, that was the blitz I sent to campus on Tuesday about OverCooked’s cooking event this Sunday. FYI, I just became the secretary for my friends’ cooking club OverCooked. I’m mainly responsible for sending out emails about our club’s events and responding to people’s RSVPs/inquiries. When events happen, I’d be there to talk to people and make sure that everyone is having a good time. The job is simple but super fun – I got to spend time cooking and eating good food while making new friends.

Our club is very small and intimate. We usually decide the topic of our events based on the dish that our members want to make. It was the same with Steak Night. We all mentioned that we were craving good steak in the group chat, so the execs just decided to make a Steak Night event.

After getting the p-card from the school (we have funding from Dartmouth!), Bowen and Rove went shopping on Friday. We showed up a little early to set up on Sunday. Then, people started showing up at 4 p.m. We showed them how to cook the steak with a Gordon Ramsay’s tutorial and helped them while they were cooking. Some of them had never cooked before, but the steak all turned out great. I also got to make my own steak, and it tasted amazing! I guess the food you cook always tastes the best!

I’m looking forward to helping OverCooked grow its presence at Dartmouth. We are a small and new club, but the people in our club are really close to each other. The people who showed up in our event today were also very interested to be more involved with the club. Therefore, I think we have a lot of work to do to develop this close-knit community of people who enjoy cooking at Dartmouth.
