Emma eating gelato

Hey! Thanks for clicking on this post that's literally all about me! I promise I won't bore you to death with a long autobiography, but just tell you the ~important stuff~ so you know a bit more about who I am when you read my future (i.e. more interesting) posts. I'm Emma (she/her), a '20 from Miami, FL, but ethnically Puerto Rican, so cold temps and I are not the best of friends. I am a Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies and Psychology double major with a minor in Studio Art. I know that's a mouthful, but luckily, weird mixes like that are pretty common at Dartmouth! I also compete and train with the Dartmouth Triathlon Team. Ask me anything about Tri Team and I would be more than happy to tell you more about how great it is. This April, after training with the team for about a year, I'll be completing my first full Ironman! Other than that, in my free time, I like eating mozzarella sticks and ice cream and finding new cozy places to read (or escape the cold) at Dartmouth. Here are my three favorite books this month:

  1. The Sleepwalker by Chris Bohjalian
  2. Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult
  3. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

I am super passionate about women's empowerment, especially in athletics, so you can find me doing work with Dartmouth Bystander Initiative, Sexperts, or writing for Dartmouth's feminist blog, The Labyrinth. It's not a secret that I absolutely love Dartmouth, but that doesn't mean I'm oblivious to our flaws. For me, loving Dartmouth means I have an inherent responsibility to make it even better for classes yet to come. Keep an eye out for my new posts about being vegetarian at Dartmouth, how to get involved in campus activism, first year trips, and much more, coming soon!
