It's widely known that snow can be magical! As Hanover welcomed multiple waves of snow, the community embraced the 2017 Winter Carnival, this year titled Dartmouth College of Icecraft and Blizzardry: A Magical Winter Carnival, a play on the beloved Harry Potter series.

The College's Winter Carnival originated in 1911 as a celebration of the winter season and Dartmouth's winter sports teams. Today, the celebration is enjoyed by many campus and Upper Valley residents, and helps celebrate not only successes in the sporting world, but also the beauty of this special place.

If you weren't one of the many who took part in the events during this three-day festival, which included trips to the Dartmouth Skiway, Do-It-Yourself Wandmaking, festive house community Broomball competitions, the Human Dog Sled Race, a Polar Bear Plunge, and a Potter-themed ice sculpting competition, you can relive the excitement through this photo essay.
