Admissions Visits & Programs

Have a Successful Visit

We have some suggestions to help you make the most of your time on campus.

  • Register your visit. Registration for information sessions and tours is strongly recommended and will allow for quick check-in when you arrive.
  • Arrive early. We recommend that you arrive in Hanover at least 40 minutes before your scheduled event. This ensures enough time for parking, walking to the Admissions Office, asking current students questions, or grabbing a cup of coffee in our lobby.
  • Park smart. Visitor parking in Hanover is provided in Dewey Lot, a short 15 minute walk away from the Admissions Office.
  • Read your confirmation. We will send you an email confirmation with event details, tips for your visit, and other important information that will save you time on the day of your visit.
  • Wear comfortable shoes & dress for the weather. Campus tours are one-hour walking tours. We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Check the Hanover, NH weather before you leave home.
  • We sometimes adjust for inclement weather. If there is a chance of rain, bring an umbrella. Tours go out in all types of weather. We reserve the right to cancel the walking tour and hold a virtual tour inside if the weather poses a danger to our student tour guides and visitors. This happens on rare occasions, such as a thunderstorm, blizzard, ice storm, etc.
  • Choose your timing. We see the highest volume of visitors on Monday and Friday mornings. Consider planning a visit for the afternoon or mid-week.
  • School vacations are busy days for our office. High school vacation periods and the entire months of July and August are our peak visit periods. Tours and information sessions will be capped during these periods. Early registration is encouraged. If your plans change, please let us know so we may accomodate another family.
  • We are open during the summer! Our summer visitors are able to see Dartmouth in action, as our sophomores are on campus for Sophomore Summer, taking classes, holding down leadership roles, and enjoying all that Hanover and the surrounding areas have to offer!
