Touring the Diners of the Upper Valley - A DinerTour(e)!
The Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) does a lot of cool stuff, including maintaining part of the Appalachian Trail and providing resources and rest stops for its hikers, thanks in part to the DOC sub-group Cabin and Trail (C&T). But C&T handles more than just keeping the trail clean. Among its many services and resources, C&T sponsors a sub-group of curious foodies on a weekly exploration of Upper Valley breakfasts.
Every Wednesday, in the wee hours of the morning, Dinertoure takes a brief expedition to a restaurant, in either New Hampshire or Vermont, in order to strengthen camaraderie through the magic of diner food and the spirit of adventure. This tour of the area's diners, called Dinertoure (with an "e"), is a long-standing tradition of C&T—for club members and non-members, for those who love the outdoors and for those who don't, but mostly for people who just really like breakfast.
Notable places include the Windsor Diner in Windsor VT, which was reportedly one of J.D. Salinger's favorite restaurants.
Check out our Snap story of this past week's Dinertoure at Mickey's Roadside Cafe in Enfield NH.
You can learn more about C&T, and Dinertoure, at the DOC website. Happy eating!
